About Sadie

Sadie is a very sweet beagle mix. She weighs about 38 lbs and is a little larger than typical beagles. She loves people and just wants to hang out with someone. She walks good on a leash and would do well with a home that allows her to be with a human most of the day. She has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. Please call or email if you would like to come meet her.

About Buford and Grady

Meet Buford and Grady! These wonderful boys are looking for a forever home together. They are brothers that a good Samaritan found on a road in Eastern Tennessee. Grady had been hit by a car and had a broken leg. Buford wouldn't leave his side. The rescuer took them to the vet and had Grady's leg repaired and had them both neutered. She wasn't able to keep them, so we took them in the fall of 2014. Over the past 3 years, these boys have been through 5 different homes and ended up in a high-kill shelter near Raleigh, NC (through no fault of their own) trying to find their forever home. We met with a behaviorist and trainer with them to assess them to help find their perfect match. Please research the breed of Rhodesian Ridgebacks and call us if you think these two boys would be a good fit for your family. The trainer has graciously given an hour session to their adopter so that these boys get off to a good start and a loving future in a forever home!

They will need a stable, consistent environment where they can flourish. They are extremely loyal to their family and will guard them. They are very loving to their owners and wonderful companions. They would do best in a home without lots of visitors and no small children. They would enjoy a fenced yard where they could run and play. They love to wrestle and chase each other. They are completely house trained and they know some commands like "Sit", "Stay", and "Shake". Please call us if you would like more information about Buford and Grady. We would love for you to come meet them!

About Prince Charming

Meet Prince Charming, our Bassador! Prince was turned into the county animal shelter because his owner has some serious health issues and was unable to care for him any longer. He's 8 years old, neutered, and is a quiet, sweet dog. Prince is a bit overweight and should probably be eating weight control dog food. This boy is over the goofy puppy nonsense--he's a laidback, calm adult dog who loves people. He doesn't like some dogs though and cats, and we think Prince needs to go to a home where he will be the only dog. He knows "sit" and is a good walking dog--he'd probably be a great hiker and could burn off a few pounds. Give us a call or email us to see him.

About Kerby

Kerby is a wonderful dog, full of life and energy! He is a yellow lab mix, about 3 years old. He was a stray, so we do not know much about his history. We do know that he loves to play with other dogs and is completely house trained. He is fine with cats and will be good with children. He is a very happy boy that will fit in great in most homes. Just look at that smile!! He does have energy and likes to run, so a fenced yard or active family would be ideal for him.  Kerby is heartworm positive and will start treatment soon.  He is still adoptable and his treatment will be completely paid for. Please call or email if you would like to come meet Kerby!

About Violet

Here's Violet. Violet was one of the 140 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in this county in November last year. Scroll thru the pictures above to see what this little girl looked like when we first got her. Violet is about 2 years old, spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. When we first saw her, we knew we had to help her. She had a severe case of demodectic mange and was very uncomfortable. She was also emaciated and in need of some good groceries. She was adopted to a wonderful family but the new owner experienced health issues that were beyond her control. Violet is a fiesty little girl. She is not afraid to tell you what she thinks. She will need some work with socialization but will definitely be worth the effort. She will need a family that is very patient as she adjusts to a new home. Dukes Animal Haven always does a home visit or a vet reference to ensure our babies are in the right home for each of them. Give us a call or fill out an online application and we will be in touch with you soon.

About Buddy

Meet our sweet old man, Buddy. We saw Buddy at the shelter and we just couldn't leave him behind. He's approximately 15 years old, partially blind, and deaf but he's such a dear, gentle soul. And he's still got some spunk for an old guy. Buddy adores people, other dogs and cats. He is close to being housebroken, if you make sure he gets let out on a regular basis. Give us a call or email us to come and meet him.
